Malo Hutson
Senior Policy Analyst
Malo André Hutson is a senior policy analyst at FutureWorks. He earned his Ph.D. in June 2006 from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the Department of Urban Studies and Planning where he was a member of the Housing, Community, and Economic Development research group. His research interests include economic and workforce development, community health, regional planning, and urban policy and politics. Dr. Hutson’s dissertation examined the role that two different workforce development institutions in the city of Boston play in helping urban job seekers and frontline incumbent workers advance along a career ladder and lattice within the health care industry.
Currently, Dr. Hutson is a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Health and Society Scholar in the Department of Epidemiology in the School of Public Health at the University of Michigan. In the summer 2008 he will become an Assistant Professor in the Department of City and Regional Planning at the University of California at Berkeley.
Prior to joining FutureWorks, Dr. Hutson worked as a research associate for PolicyLink, a national public policy organization. He has also worked as an independent consultant for the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) and NetFutures. In 2002, Dr. Hutson was the lead researcher for a national evaluation of the AmeriCorp VISTA CTC Project.
