Economic Development Strategy for Erie, Pennsylvania
FutureWorks led a consultant team under contract to the Economic Development Corporation of Erie â County (EDCEC) to assist in the establishment of an economic development strategy for the one county metro region. The consultant team was asked to analyze the regional economy, assess the factors affecting competitiveness in the region, make recommendations to strengthen the regional economy, and assist in the preparation of an Erie County Economic Development Strategy.
Economic Development Strategy for Central Indiana
FutureWorks directed a team of national experts in assisting a corporate CEO leadership group in Greater Indianapolis to redesign their approach to economic development, focusing it more sharply around regional strategies aimed at critical problems of business development, workforce development, and quality of life. The Indianapolis Corporate Community Council financed this project.
The Federal Express Mid-Atlantic Hub: An Analysis of Economic Impacts and Opportunities in the Piedmont Triad Region (North Carolina)
FutureWorks was retained by the Joseph M. Bryan Foundation and the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation for a major project in the Piedmont Triad region of North Carolina. The project analyzed the economic impact and opportunities brought to the region by location of the Federal Express Mid-Atlantic regional distribution center at the Piedmont Triad Airport.
A Plan to Strengthen MetroHartford's Civic Capacity
On behalf of the MetroHartford (Central Connecticut) Civic Capacity Task Force, Brian Bosworth directed a study of civic capacity in the Hartford metropolitan area. The purpose of the study was to establish how private and public sector organizations in the region could best apply their resources in strengthening civic infrastructure toward the goal of enhancing economic and social development. It led to several recommendations (several of which have been implemented) for wholesale reform and restructuring of civic organizations in the region. The Greater Hartford Chamber of Commerce and the MetroHartford Millennium Project supported this project.
