Regional Sustainable Development Fellowship 2008-2009 (Rd II)
In2008-2009 FutureWorks will be designing, managing and delivering content for 50 new executives from chambers of commerce tackling issues of regional sustainable development. The program is a joint partnership between FutureWorks and the American Chamber of Commerce Executives, with funding and support by the Ford Foundation. The second round of the Regional Sustainable Development Fellowship builds off the first two year effort that successfully graduated 37 Fellows in the fall of 2007.
There are two primary goals of the Fellowship. The first goal is to give participants an increased depth of understanding of current trends and issue regarding regional sustainable development and equip them with sound organizational practice to better tackle these issues in their home regions. The second goal is to build a new cadre as well as the next generation of leaders who can practice regional sustainable development with eagerness and excellence.
The 50 Fellows who were selected from a highly competitive process are divided into three cohorts. The learning format centers around three in-person meetings for each cohort over nine months. In between sessions, Fellows are given reading (journal articles, reports and studies), worked on self-identified “Regional Action Projects” and participate in on-line DIALogues with special speakers and topics. There is also formal and informal coaching between sessions.
